If you love food and spend any of your free time on Instagram, you have probably seen ads for the ultra-sophisticated Truff Hot Sauce. With their luxurious packaging and red-orange sauce pouring and dripping all over our favorite foods, we knew we had to try it out. And if you haven’t heard of it. Now you know.
Born in Southern California, Truff is a red chili-based hot sauce infused with Italian black truffle oil, savory spices, and sweetened with agave nectar.
Sweet and spicy. It’s similar to a spicy BBQ sauce, but without the smokey aroma. The flavor of the black truffle is just enough to add its creamy texture without overpowering the rest of the spices.
It’s spicer than we expected for something labeled “truffle”, but it’s a good heat and not too extreme. The truffle comes through at the end to balance out the heat and creates a smooth and silky texture.
You can buy this hot sauce directly from their website, specialty food stores, Amazon, and at select Whole Foods locations in the LA area.
Overall, the taste was sweetly unexpected but delicious. We can easily find dozens of foods to dip into this sauce. For $18 a bottle, this probably won’t replace your Cholula or Tapatío but it does make a great conversation starter at your next BBQ or a gift for the hot sauce aficionado.
